During the early 70’s, Benard was signed as a staff writer to Almo Publishing Company, owned by Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss, who also formed A&M Records.  During his six and half years tenure there as staff writer, Benard’s reputation as a composer grew tremendously. Benard scored Geoffrey Holder’s Ballet”Ballet Blues And The Bible”.  He was also the Musical Director and performed in the Ballet, but not as a dancer.  He had a Cameo spot, singing his “Everything Must Change”

From appearances in Jazz Festivals all over Europe, Japan and the U.S. he has become a seasoned performer.

Benard has received a Special Senatorial Resolution, recognizing his talents and contributions to the arts, presented to him by:

Senator Diane Watson of California and the late Mayor Tom Bradley of Los Angeles California.

He has appeared on the T.V. sit-com”227” starring Marla Gibbs.

Benard can also be seen and heard in the Jack Nicholson film “The Two Jakes”

Benard Has received (4) Gold and(4) Platinum Albums/CD’s awards for his Classic “Everything Must Change” which he wrote in 1974. It has become a standard, a modern day Classic. It is still being recorded by artists today.

Believe it or not, Benard has only one album to his credit, an album he recorded in Japan in the late 70’s.  It was never officially released in America. The Album”Little Dreamer” is soon to be

released again worldwide.  After living abroad over the years in Paris, Italy, and Greece, Benard Is now back in the States.
